Psalm 123
A setting of excerpts from Psalm 123.
The Everlasting Voices
8-part setting of the poem by William Butler Yeats. Listen for how melodic fragments are passed from voice to voice, building into full harmonies before dying away.
The Burial of the Dead - The Committal
4-part setting of this portion from the Book of Common Prayer, sometimes called the funeral sentences, to be sung or said as the body is committed to the earth.
Pieces for Clarinet Quintet
A 3-movement work for clarinet and string quartet with the middle movement being variations on a chorale-like theme.
Burial Orders - The Responses
These responses, based on Psalm 143, are part of the Anglican order for the burial of the dead. They are set here for 8-part SSAATTBB choir, which may be split into two SATB groups for a call and response effect in some passages.
Greek Orthodox Funeral Service - The Burial
Adapted from excerpts of the Greek Orthodox funeral service.
Prayers & Thanksgivings - A Commendation
Part of the Anglican prayers & thanksgivings. I was particularly struck by its use in the funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II, and began writing this 8-part setting shortly afterwards.
‘Lullaby’ for Clarinet Trio
Piece in ABCBA form for a trio of clarinet, cello, and piano.
Autumn Nocturne for Clarinet Quintet
For a quintet of clarinet and string quartet.

Love Songs for Piano and Voice
Three settings of poems from Sara Teasdale’s 1917 collection ‘Love Songs’, written during my final year at university in April to June 2019.
‘Night Song at Amalfi’ has a melancholic and yearning tone, reflected in the long lines of the piano part. The voice in ‘Wood Song’ mimics the wide ranging melodies of a wood thrush. And the soft tone and harmonic ostinato in ‘April Song’ can be compared with the themes of wistful longing in the poem, with both culminating in a hopeful and open-ended resolution.
